7.5 Switching on and off
During the start-up procedure, the rated current is
temporarily exceeded. During operation, the rated cur-
rent must not be exceeded again. CAUTION!If the
pump does not start, immediately switch off the
pump. First repair the fault before re-activating the
pump!
Position pumps in portable installation on a firm foun-
dation. Before switching on pumps which have fallen
over, make sure to re-position them. In the case of
problematic surfaces, tightly screw the pump.
Pump with attached float switch and plug
▪Single-phase version: After inserting the plug in the
socket, the pump is ready for operation. The pump is
automatically switched on and off depending on the
fluid level.
▪Three-phase current version: After inserting the plug in
the socket, the pump is ready for operation. The con-
trol of the pump takes place via two switches on the
plug:
– HAND/AUTO: Determining whether the pump is
switched on and off directly (HAND) or depending on
the fluid level (AUTO).
– ON/OFF: Switch pump on and off.
Pump with attached plug
▪Single-phase version: After inserting the plug in the
socket, the pump switches on.
▪Three-phase current version: After inserting the plug in
the socket, the pump is ready for operation. The pump
is switched on and off via the ON/OFF switch.
Pumps with bare cable end
The pump must be switched on and off via a separate
operating point (on/off switch, switchgear) provided by
the customer.
7.6 During operation
WARNING
Amputation of limbs due to rotating compo-
nents!
People must be kept out of the pump's working
area! There is a risk of (serious) injury due to rotating
parts! During activation and operation no persons
should be allowed in the working area.
WARNING
Danger of burning due to hot surfaces!
The motor housing can get hot during operation. It
can lead to burns. Allow the pump to cool down to
ambient temperature after switching off!
NOTICE
Delivery problems due to low water level
The hydraulics are self-venting. As a result, small air
cushions are dissolved during the pump process. If
the fluid is lowered too low, it can stop the volume
flow. The minimum permissible water level must
reach up to the upper edge of the hydraulics hous-
ing!
During pump operation observe the local regulations on
the following subjects:
▪Workplace safety
▪Accident prevention
▪Handling electrical machines
Strictly adhere to the personnel’s work plan determined
by the operator. All personnel are responsible for ad-
hering to the work plan and regulations!
Due to their design, centrifugal pumps have rotating
parts that are easily accessible. Depending on the oper-
ating conditions, sharp edges can develop on these
parts. WARNING!This can lead to cuts and limbs may
be amputated and severed! The following points must
be checked at regular intervals:
▪Operating voltage (+/-10% of the rated voltage)
▪Frequency (+/- 2% of the rated frequency)
▪Current consumption between the individual phases
(max. 5%)
▪Voltage difference between the individual phases (max.
1%)
▪Maximum switching frequency
▪Minimum water submersion depending on the operat-
ing mode
▪Inlet: no air intake
▪Level control device/dry-running protection: Switching
point
▪Smooth/low-vibration running
▪All gate valves opened
