AutoRead Installation/Upgrade Instructions
Requirements
• PC running Professional version of Windows 7, 8, 10, Vista, or XP Service Pack 3
• Administrator or local administrative rights to the PC
• AutoRead version 5.05 or higher (upgrades only)
For customers upgrading
• It is recommended that you backup your current AutoRead configurations. In AutoRead,
click File > Backup. Choose Configuration and click OK. Enter a filename and click
Save.
• It is necessary to clear all routes (including programmer routes) in the AutoRead software
prior to running the upgrade. Therefore, it is not recommended to proceed with the
upgrade if you are in the middle of an active meter reading cycle.
• The upgrade will attempt to send a backup of your AutoRead configurations to Sensus.
This backup file can be helpful in restoring your AutoRead system should you ever
have a problem with your PC or AutoRead software. If the attempt is unsuccessful, it is
recommended that you save a backup to a network or USB drive.
• All previous settings should be retained. The upgrade to the new version of AutoRead
should have no effect on your billing software or normal operating procedures.
Installation/Upgrade
1. Close all programs currently running on your PC.
• If using a CD: Insert the AutoRead CD into the PC and wait for the InstallShield
Wizard to start. If it does not automatically start within a few minutes, click Start >
Run and enter D:\setup.exe (If your CD ROM's drive letter is not D, change D to the
appropriate letter) and click OK.
• If you are using the downloaded AutoRead executable: Simply double-click the
file and wait for the InstallShield Wizard to start.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions and be sure to have your provided password sheet.
