3.3.3 Octopus Cables
An octopus cable fans out the 8 serial ports from a 50-pin Telco connector to DB25 connectors
(6-pins used per connector). An octopus cable can be ordered with either 8 male or female
DB25 connectors as shown in Figure 3-12. The following cable lengths are available for both
octopus cable types:
• 0.91 m (3 ft)
• 1.83 m (6 ft)
• 7.62 m (25 ft)
• 15.24 m (50 ft)
