Troubleshooting
D.1 Overview
Refer to this chapter if you experience a problem with your terminal server. This chapter
describes:
• Normal terminal server operations
• How the terminal server indicates errors
• How to reset the terminal server
• What to do if the Ethernet (A, B, or C) light on the front panel goes out
• How to Troubleshoot Internet Software Loading Problems
D.2 Normal Terminal Server Operations
The terminal server automatically runs self tests when you apply power to the unit or use the
RESET button to initialize the unit. Upon successful completion of the self tests, the terminal
server loads software from a memory card, or over the network from a load server.
During the self test and software loading, the lights (LEDs) on the front panel flash to
reflect various types of activity. During self-test, you should observe the following light
activity:
Front Panel Light Activity Meaning
All lights ON Testing lights (approximately 1
second).
CARD, RUN, CON, A, B, and C
(Ethernet) lights OFF
Self Test begins.
Lights ON, from right (8 status light) to
left (1 status light)
Self Test is running.
RUN flashes rapidly Successful completion of Self Test.
When the Self Test completes, the terminal server begins loading software.
