3.3.8 Gender Changer (Telco 50-Pin, Male-To-Male)
A Gender Changer is a connector adaptor that can be used in any application requiring the
opposite connector gender between 2 existing cables, or a cable and a device such as a modular
splitter or customer-supplied punch-down block.
3.3.9 DECconnect™ 36-Pin Serial Interface Connections
The Xyplex 50-pin terminal server interface is easily integrated into the DEC RS-423 36-pin
environment. The conversion to 36-pins occurs in the cabling to the serial devices by using a
50-pin Telco to 36-pin Telco DECconnect adaptor cable.
3.3.10 DECconnect Adaptor Cables
Conversion from the 50-pin (6 pins per port) interface to the DECconnect 36-pin DEC RS-423
interface is accomplished in the cabling with a Xyplex 50-pin Telco (Male) to 36-pin Telco (Male
or Female) cable (Figure 3-17). Note that there are 4 pins per port at the 36-pin end (Table 3-3).
