REMOVING THE CAMSHAFTS
1.Remove:
 magneto cover
2.Align:
 “T” mark on the magneto rotor
(with the stationary pointer on the crank-
case)
a. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise.
b. When piston #1 is at TDC on the com-
pression stroke, align the “T” mark

the stationary pointer

TDC on the compression stroke can be
found when the camshaft lobes are turned
away from each other.
3.Remove:
 timing chain guide (top side)

4.Loosen:
 camshaft sprocket bolts

5.Loosen:
 timing chain tensioner cap bolt

6.Remove:
 timing chain tensioner
2
7.Remove:
 timing chain guide (exhaust side)
1
 camshaft caps
2
For reference during installation, put identifi-
cation marks on each camshaft cap.
