Introduction
Compact actuator for the
operation of final
control elements with preferably 90° rotary
movement such as valve flaps, ball valves,
etc.
The nominal torque is transferred through a lever
actuator. A special electronic unit controls the
actuator. The special electronic unit serves
as the
interface between actuator and control system.

What to do if my ABB Controller actuator does not react?
    • S
      Shannon DavisAug 11, 2025
If your ABB Controller actuator isn't reacting, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the nameplate data on the actuator and electronic unit match. Then, verify and update the settings for the parametrization software. Check the wiring for communication with the control system and between the actuator and electronic unit. Examine the motor and brakes for faults by checking the winding resistance and brake lock. Ensure binary inputs on the electronic unit are wired. Finally, if the brake isn't releasing, check the brake air gap (approximately 0.25 mm) and the electrical connection to the brake coil, including its winding resistance.

What to do if LEDs flash alternately on ABB RHD?
    • C
      Caroline HarrisonAug 17, 2025
If the LEDs in the commissioning and service panel (CSP) of your ABB Controller flash alternately, it indicates an electronic unit or drive failure. To address this, try the following: drive the actuator beyond the adjusted end position manually or using the push buttons on the CSP, after disconnecting it from the valve or damper. Then, drive the actuator back into the operating range and reconnect it to the valve or damper. Finally, re-adjust the operating range.

How to fix synchronously flashing LEDs on ABB RHD Controller?
    • L
      Lisa DiazAug 23, 2025
If the LEDs in the commissioning and service panel (CSP) of your ABB Controller flash synchronously, it means that the actuator is not adjusted properly. You should adjust the actuator.

What to do if ABB RHD actuator doesn't run in AUT mode?
    • N
      Nichole JensenAug 29, 2025
If your ABB Controller actuator does not run in AUT mode, even though “AUT” is selected in the user interface, the binary input 1 (BE 1) might not be wired. Make the connection and check the software settings for the binary inputs.

Why ABB RHD actuator can't move the valve?
    • A
      Alexander SheltonSep 4, 2025
If the ABB Controller actuator can't move the valve, it could be due to a failure either at the actuator or at the final control element, such as a stuffing box tightened too much. To identify the cause, detach the actuator from the valve. If the actuator moves, the valve is the likely cause. If the actuator doesn't run, the actuator is the likely cause.
