Barcode port (Figure 4)
Sample identification is available through the barcode port. For infor-
mation on using a barcode scanner with your instrument, see “Using a
barcode scanner” found later in this chapter, and follow the specific
instructions included with the barcode scanner.
Sample handling
The sampling system kit supplied with your Model 3320 osmometer
contains a special sampler and a starter supply of disposable sampler
tips and chamber cleaners. Each kit contains re-order information.
Be sure to replace the sampler plunger with each new test kit (500 sam-
ples). For instructions on this procedure, see “Sampler plunger wire
replacement and verification” in Chapter 5.
The Model 3320 measures the osmolality of a sample inside the
sampler tip while on the sampler. This feature requires sampler
tips specially designed to match both the sampler and the
Model 3320. Do not use any other sample-handling system
with your Model 3320 osmometer, and do not use the Model
3320 sampling system for any other laboratory procedure.
Standards & controls
Advanced Instruments offers and recommends the use of specific stan-
dards and controls with your Model 3320 osmometer. Each type may be
used to assess a different aspect of your instrument’s performance. For
information on obtaining these standards and controls, contact
Advanced Instruments or an authorized representative.
