4. Commissioning and Operation

Starting the Engine
Engine cold:
Compact version.
Engine type CLASSIC 35
l Press PRIMER (B/10) 3 times to in-
ject fuel
l Move speed control lever (A/3) to
”max” (FULL THROTTLE).
Comfort version:
Engine type Quantum XM 45
l Move speed control lever to ”CHOKE”
position
Engine warm:
l Move speed control lever (A/3) to
operating position midway between
idling speed and full speed
l The operator is behind the handle-
bar
l Keep off harzardous area (in particu-
lar children)
l Leave both clutch control levers (A/1
and A/2) in off-position
l Pull the starter cord handle (A/4) until
you feel the starter clutch engage. Then
pull hard and fast to start the engine.
After the start, let the cord glide back.
Do not let it snap back.
l Once the engine is started move the
speed control lever slowly midway be-
tween idling speed and full speed and
let it warm up for a short time.
