4.2 Preventive Maintenance
Maintenance checks must be performed at least once a year Sites that are located near coastal areas
or sources of pollution may require more periodic inspection and maintenance than those in rural
areas.
The only moving components on the antenna system are in the Polarizer assemblies and their
respective motor drives. These components are sealed units and require no preventative maintenance.
However, the items listed in Table 4-2 may be replaced in the field if necessary. Components within
the kits may be used for replacement as required.
The following procedures represent the minimum maintenance requirements for the antenna system:
a. Check fasteners to ensure they have not come loose. Using the proper size wrench, test all fasteners
on the elevation adjustment mechanism, trunnions, SSR interface mount, polarizers, feed horns, feed
support frames, ladder and waveguide connections.
