3.3.1 Installing the Base Interface Kit (174198) to the Reflector base and to the pedestal.
Refer to Figure 3-3, and Table 3-5.
Refer to Figure 3-3 and Table 3-5 for pictorial and item identification. All threads, shafts, sleeves,
and pins installed as described below should be coated with Anti Seize Compound (item 32) prior to
installation. (NATO G354 Petrolatum may be substituted)
WARNING : Failure to coat threads of Elevation Adjustment Screws and Nuts with anti-seize
compound could result in eventual seizure of nuts, making adjustment impossible.
a. At the pedestal, install a Pivot Shaft Sleeve (item 3) and Shaft (item 2) to the pedestal lug. Do not
insert Pin (item 6) at this point.
b. Slide the Elevation Adj. Screw (item 1) onto the Shaft and the second Pivot Shaft Sleeve (item 3)
onto the Shaft.
c. Note that there are six holes drilled axially in each Pivot Shaft Sleeve, one pair is on the centerline,
one pair is .063" to the left of center, and one pair is .063" to the right of center. With the components
loosely assembled per steps a) & b), line up the required .250" diameter holes to the Shaft (item 2)
that will allow the Elevation Adj. Screw to move freely on the shaft without any perceivable side
play. Install the Spring Pins (item 6) to lock the Pivot Shaft Sleeve to the Shaft as shown.
d. Assemble and run the Elevation Adj. Nut (item 5) down to the base of the Elevation Adj. Screw
(item 1), and Flat washer (item 9) onto the Nut.
e._ Assemble the Trunnions (item 10) to the pedestal lugs by installing the Trunnion Shafts (item 11)
along with the required Pivot Shaft Sleeves (item 3) and spring Pins (item 6). Note that there are six
holes drilled axially in each Pivot Shaft Sleeve, one pair is on the centerline, one pair is .063" to the
left of center and one pair is .063" to the right of center. Line up the required .250" diameter holes to
the Shaft (item 11) that fit best to the pedestal lugs.
f. The remainders of the Base Interface materials are assembled when the antenna is lifted and attached
to the pedestal. (Para. 3.3.6 and Para. 3.3.7)
