Room Controller 4 (NIRC4-xMN)
2 Description
The Room Controller (NIRC4) is a teleCARE IP controller establishing a decentralized node on the IP
network. A teleCARE IP Room Controller acts as a gateway between the four digital room buses and the IP
network. The NIRC4 is compatible with the NU-series modules, allowing 12 NU-series modules per room
bus.
It has a connection for an optional wireless transceiver (NIRX) that supports wireless nurse calls and a
connection for an optional voice module (NIVP4) that supports speech for NU-series modules. The NIRC4
can also serve as a corridor lamp supporting up to four LED boards behind a translucent dome cover. The
LED boards supported are the NILD2 and the dedicated workflow LED board (NILD4–RGB). The NIRC4 has
an integrated USB 2.0HS Host Port and Device Port with integrated support for the connection of the
Wireless Gateway.
The NIRC4 connects to the IP network using a 100Mb Ethernet connection. The input power can be
provided through the LAN port using power over ethernet (PoE), or through an auxiliary power supply via a
PoE Midspan. The NIRC4 includes firmware upgrade support for connected NU-series modules.
