2.3 Ethernet Cables
For Information about configuration of the Ethernet card and cable please
refer to the Installation Guide. Only use shielded Ethernet cables to reduce
electromagnetic interference with the instrument.
The instrument will function in wireless mode if the Ethernet cable is left
unattached between the computer and the instrument. The instrument will
function in Ethernet cable mode if the computer and instrument are connected
by the Ethernet cable. To communicate in Ethernet cable mode, plug the
shielded cross-over Ethernet computer cable (as shown in Figure 2-11) into
the Ethernet ports of the FieldSpec spectroradiometer and your instrument
controller. Figure 2-10 shows the back panel containing the Ethernet port,
which is labeled “RJ45/ETHERNET”.
