Fast charging the battery (charging rate above 14 .8
Volts)
For technical reasons do not use a battery charge r that uses voltage
greater than 14.8 Volts to charge your vehicle's battery.
& WARNING
Charging a battery can be dangerous.
Always follow the ope rat ing instructions provided by the
battery charger manufacturer when charging your battery .
Never charge a frozen battery. It may explode because of gas
trapped in the ice . Allow a frozen battery to thaw out first .
Do not reuse batteries which were frozen . The battery housing
may have cracked and weakened when th e batter y froze.
Charge the battery in a well ventilated area. Keep away from
open flame or electr ical spark. Do not smoke . Hydrogen gas gen er-
ated by the battery is explosive.
To reduce the danger of explo sion, never conne ct or disconnect
charger cables while the charger is operating.
Fast charging a battery is dangerous and should only be
attempted by a competent te chnician with the proper equipment.
Battery acid that may spill during charging should be washed
off with a s olution of warm water and baking soda to neutralize
the acid.

Never use a fast charger as a booster to start the eng ine. This will seri-
ous ly damage sens itive elect ronic components, such as control units,
re lays, rad io, etc., as well as the battery charger.

dimensions as the original equipment battery.

installe d at the time your vehicle was delivere d). Specifications a re
listed on the battery ho us ing. Your author ized Audi dealer will the n
code the battery management control unit .
If it is no t poss ible to use a batte ry of t his ty pe, the new ba tt ery mus t
have the same capac ity, voltage (12 volts), amperage, construction
and plug sea ling.
Whe n installing the battery, make sure the ignit ion and a ll electr ical
cons umers are turned off.

Make sure the venti lation hose on the side of the battery is
connected, otherwise fumes or battery acid can leak out.

Because of the probl e m of prope r disposal of a batte ry, we recom-
mend your author ized Audi dealer change the battery for you.
