shield wiper performs one afterwipe operation after severa l seconds
wh ile dr iving . You can swi t ch t his functio n off by mov ing the lever to
position © within 10 seconds of the afterwipe operation. The after-
wipe function is react ivated the next ti me the igniti on is sw itched o n .
Cleaning the headlights* . The headlight washer system* only func -
tions when the light is sw itched on . The head lights are automatically
cleaned the first time and every fifth t ime the lever is moved to posi-
tion ® · They are also cleaned every time you hold the Leve r in pos ition
© for longer than 2 seconds.

• The rain sensor is only intended to assist the driver . The driver
is still responsible for manuall y switching the wiper s on according
to the visibility conditions .
• The windshield may not be tr eated with water-repelling wind-
shield coating agent s. Unf avorable conditions , such as wetness,
darkness, low sun, can result in increased glare . Wiper blade
chatt er is also possible.

• In the case of frost, check whether the windshield wiper blades are
frozen to the windsh ie ld. Switching on the windshield wipe rs can
damage the wiper blades!

• Prior to us ing a car wash, the windsh ield wiper system must be
switched off (lever in position 0). This prevents unint ent ion al
switching on and damage to the windshield wiper system .
(I] Tips
• The windshield wipers are switched off when the ignition is turned
off . Activate the winds hield wipers after the ignition is switched back
on by mov ing the windshie ld wipe r lever to any pos it ion.
• Worn or dirty windshield w ipe r blades result in streaking . This can
affect the rain sensor* funct ion. Check your windsh ield wiper blades
reg ularly .
• The ra in sensor* is part of the interval wiping system . Turning off
the ignition will also deactivate the ra in sensor* . To react ivate the
sensor, switch off the interval wip ing function, then switch it back on
again.
• The washer fluid nozzles of the windshield washer system are
heated at low temperatures when the ignition is on.
• When stopping temporar ily, e.g . at a traffic light, the set speed of
the windsh ie ld wipers is au t om atically redu ced by one speed. •
Service position
The windshield wiper blades are replaced in the service
position.
