Airbag system

Items stored between the safety belt buckle and th e center
console can cause the sen sors in the buckle to send th e wrong
information to the electron ic control module and prevent the
Advanced Airbag System from working properly.
Always make sure th at nothing can interfere with the safety
belt buckles and that they are not obstructed .

Undep loyed airbag mod ules and pretensioners might be class ified as

parts of t he rest raint system includ ing a irbag modu les safety belts
with pretensioners are scrapped, a ll applicable laws and regulations
must be obse rved. Your author ized Audi dealer is fa miliar wit h these
requirements and we recommend that you have your dealer perform
this se rvice fo r you.
Knee airbags
Description of knee airbags
The airbag system can provide supplemental protection
to properly restrained front seat occupants.

The airbag for the dr iver is locate d in the inst rument pane l under -
neath the steering whee l ~ fig . 1 12, the a irbag for the passenger is
at abo ut the same height in t he instr ument panel under neath the
glove compartme nt.
The knee airbag offers addit ional protection to the dr iver's and
passenge r's knees and upper and lowe r t high a reas as a supplement
to the safety belts.
If the front airbags dep loy, the knee airbags a lso deploy in fron tal
collisions above a certa in severity~

Besides the ir norma l safety funct ion, safety be lt s work to help keep
the driver or front passenger in position in case of a frontal collision
so th at t he airbags can provide protec t ion .
The a irbag system is not a substitute for your safety belt. Rather, it is
part of the ove rall occupant restraint system in your vehicle. Always
remembe r t hat the airbag system can on ly help to protect you if you
