Power locking system
General description
The power locking system locks or unlocks all doors
simultaneously.
The power locking system in your vehicle incorporates the following
fu nct ions :
• Centra l locking fu nction
• Remote cont rol fea tur e =>
page 37.
• Anti-Theft Alarm System => page 45.
You can lock and un lock the vehi cle from outside e ithe r with the keys
or the remote control transmitter inside the master key .
Activating the power locking system locks or unlocks all doors
simultaneously.
You can also open or close the windows when you lock or unlock the
dr iver's door using the key. For safety reasons, yo u cannot use t he
remote control to open/close the windows .
The
selective unlock feature makes it possib le to open just the
dr iver's d oo r.
If the power locking system s hou ld ma lfunction, you can lock and
unloc k each lock individu a lly usi ng the vehicle key .
Automatic locking*
The au tomat ic locking feature locks a ll the vehicle doors and t he re ar
lid when you drive faster than 9 mph (15 km/h).
You can unlock the vehicle from the ins ide by:
• remov ing the key from the ig nit ion sw itch (t he vehi cle will au t o-
matically un lock itself) or
• press ing the unlock part of the power lock switch €!l or
pull ing the door handle (to open the door).

If you w ish, you can have an authorized Audi dea ler convert your
powe r doo r lock sys t em t o a ut om atic locking.
Unlocking/locking the vehicle
Whe n you unlock yo ur vehicle:
• The anti -theft alarm system is deactivated briefly .
• The vehicle int erior lights illumina t e for appr oximate ly 30
seconds.
When you
lock t he veh icle:
• All doors are locked.
• The anti-theft alarm system is activated.
• The vehicle interior lights turn off .
• The anti- t heft alar m system is act ivat ed . The hor n of t he an t i-
theft a larm system w ill sound and the anti-theft a larm system readi-
ness light, located in the center of the instrumen t panel be low the
windshield o n the right side of the a ir vent, will start to blink .
& WARNING
• When you lock your vehicle from outside, nobody - especially
children - should remain inside the vehicle . Remember, when you
lock the vehicle from the outside the windows cannot be opened
from the inside.
• When you leave the vehicle , always remove the ignit ion key
and take it with you. This will prevent pass engers (children, for
example ) from accidentally being locked in the vehicle should
they accidentally press the power locking switch.
• Do not leave children inside the vehicle unsuper vised . In an
emergency it would be impossible to open the doors from the
outside without the key.
