ages . Howeve r, the guidance fixtures can help you to locate the
LATCH anc ho rages.

Improper use of tether anchorages or lower anchorages can cause
serious personal injury in a crash.
Always carefully follow the child restraint manufacturer's
instructions for proper installation and use of child restraint
system s.
Never use the
LATCH or tether anchorages to attach safety
belts or other kinds of occupant restraints.
Child restraint tether attachments and lower attachments are
only designed to s ecure a child restraint that has been equipped to
use these anchorages .
Tether anchorages and lower anchorages are designed to with-
stand only those loads imposed by correctly fitted child restraints.
Under no circumstances can they be used s afely for adult or child
safety belts or harnesses .
Never mount more than one child restraint to a single teth e r or
to a lower anchorage point. Attaching two child rest raints to a
single anchorage point can cause the anchorage to fail and cause
serious personal injury in a crash.

Installing a child restraint with LATCH
lower anchorages
Whe never you install a child restr ain t always fo llow the
child rest raint ma nufacturer's instruc tions.

- Make sure t he seat bac k of t he rear sea t benc h is in t he
upright position and sec urely latc he d in place.
- Attac h both hoo k-on con nectors with the spring catc h
release on the ch ild safety sea t on t o the LATCH lower
anchora g e so t hat t he connectors lock into place
=> fig . 125.
- Pull on t he connector attach m ents to ma ke sure they are
properly at t ached to th e LATCH lower a ncho ra ge.
- Pull straps ti ght followi ng t he chil d res t rain t m anufac-
turer's instructio ns.
