Swit ching ESP off (sport mode)
In ce rtain sit uat ions, it might make sense to
allow some slip. For example :
- Rocking the vehicle to free it when it is stuck
- Driving in deep snow or on loose ground
- Driving with snow cha ins
Press the [!] button . The ESP ind icator light
f'i
turns on and Stabilisat ion program off ap-
pears in the disp lay. ASR deactivates com-
pletely and the stabilizat ion effects from the
ESP system are lim ited.
Switching on
Press the [!] button again. The message
Stab i-
lisation program on
appears brief ly in the dis-
play.
A WARNING
Only switch ESP sport mode on when your
driving abilities and the traffic s ituation
pe rmit . Please note that the dr iving
wheels can spin and the vehicle can break
away in ESP sport mode, especially whe n
t he road is slippery.
(D Tips
If the re a re faults in the rear spo iler sys-
tem or in Audi magnet ic ride, it may not be
possible to act ivate ESP sport mode or
normal mode may act ivate aga in a utoma t -
ically.

Press and ho ld the [!] button for three sec-
onds. The ESP indicator light
Ii turns on and
Stabilisation program off appears in the d is-
play. ASR is also switched off when ESP is
switched off.
Switching on
Press the
[!I button again. The message Stabi-
lisation program on
appears briefly in the dis-
play.
A WARNING
You should only switch the ESP off if your
driving ab ility and the traffic situation al-
low. This cou ld increase the risk of slip-
ping .
- The stab ilizing funct ion is limited in ESP
sport mode. The dr iving wheels could
spin and the vehicle could swe rve, espe-
cially on slick or sl ippe ry road su rfaces.
- There is no veh icle stabilization when
ESP is switched off.
{!) Tips
If there is a malfunct io n in the ret ractable
rear spoiler* or the Aud i magnetic ride*, it
may not be poss ible to activate ESP sport
mode o r norma l mode may activa t e again
automat ica lly.
