50 Clear v ision
The vanity mir rors in the sun viso rs are equ ip-
ped with lids. When the lid is opened @, the
mirror light in the headliner turns on auto -
mat ically. It turns off when the lid is closed
and the visor is fo lded up again.

Turn the adjusting knob to c::> fig. 53 ©
(driver's side outside mirror) to @ (front
passenger's outside mirror) .
Press the knob in the appropriate direction
to move the mirror surface so that you have
a good view to the rear.
Heated mirro rs*
Turn the rotary knob to @ .
Depending on outside tempera t ure and vehi-
cle speed, the mirror su rfaces are hea t ed un t il
the ign ition is switc hed off- eve n if the rotary
knob is no longer in position @ .
You are well-advised t o fold the exterior m ir-
rors in when mane uveri ng in tight spaces or
when leaving the car parked close to ot her ve-
hicles.
(D Note
- Curved mirror sur fa ces (convex or spheri-
ca l*) increase your field of view. Remem -
ber that vehicles or ot her objects will ap-
pear sma ller and farthe r away than when
seen in a flat mirror. If you use this mir-
ror to est imate distances of following ve-
hicles when chang ing lanes, you could
estimate incorrectly and cause an acci-
dent.
(D Tips
If t here sho uld be a ma lfunction in the
electr ica l system, you can sti ll adjust the
exter ior mirrors by pressing the edge of
the mirror.

Manual anti -glare adjustment
Move t he small lever (locat ed o n the bot -
t om edge of t he mirror) to the rear .
Automatically dimming mirrors*
To dim the rearview mirror a nd both exteri-
or m irrors, press the @ button. The diode
@ tu rns on. The rearview and ext er ior mir-
rors dim a utomat ica lly when light shines on
them, for examp le from headligh t s on ave-
hicle to the rear.

Electro lyte fluid can leak from automatic
d imm ing mirrors if the glass is broken.
Electro lyte fluid can irr itate sk in, eyes a nd
respirato ry system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to elec-
trolyte can cause irritation to the respira-
tory system, especially among people
wit h asthma or other resp irato ry condi-
tions. Get fresh air immedi ately by leav-
ing t he veh icle or, if t hat is no t possib le,
open w indows and doors all t he way.
