Introduction
The Driver information display inside the in-
strument cluster provides you, the driver,
with important information .

W ith t he ignition on, the display in the Driver
I nforma t ion System shows the fo ll ow ing in-
formation:
- CD* inserted or Radio* station set
- Outside temperature*: At temperatures be-
low 41 °F
(+5 °(), a snowflake symbol ap-
pears in front of the t emperatu re display
¢ &_.
- Warning: front lid, door or engine compart-
ment lid open: The display appears if the
door, the engine compartmen t lid or fron t
li d is not closed.

Auto Check Control
Some f unct ions and vehicle components are
scanned for their operating status when you
switch the ig nition on and whi le you are driv-
ing . Malfunctions or required service proce-
dures are signaled audib ly and ind icated by
red and yellow ill umina t ed symbols and re-
minders in the disp lay .

- Never rely exclusively on the outsi de
temper at ure display t o determine if a
road surface is icy or not. Keep in mind
that road surfaces, especially br idges
and overpasses, could be ice covered and
slippery even at an outside temperature
above 41 °F

- Always remember, even if the "snow-
f lake" symbo l (ice warning) does not ap-
pear in the display, black ice could be on
the road .
- Always reduce your speed and drive with
special care in cold weathe r cond it ions
when t he chance of encounter ing icy
road surfaces increases.
@ Tips
- If the vehicle is stationary, or if you are
dr iving at a very low speed, the tempera-
t ure shown in the display m ight be
slightly high er than t he actua l outside
tempe ratu re. This is caused by the heat
being radiat ed from t he engine.
- On vehicles with Audi Navigat ion sys-
tem*, the displays may differ from t heir
normal appearance during navigation.
