the vehicle and have it towed to the near-
est Audi dealer or qualified workshop.
- Never let the vehicle roll to a stop with
the engine shut off.

Electro-mechanical

The electro -mechanical power assist helps
the driver when steering.
The degree of power assist is electronically
matc hed to vehicle speed.
The power steering system ass ists t he driver
so that he can stee r the ve hicle w ith reduced
phys ical effort.
Powe r stee ring will not wo rk if the eng ine is
off. As a result, the steer ing whee l will be hard
to turn.
& WARNING
If the system develops a prob lem, you
must seek qua lified professional ass is-
tance.
(U;) Note
-
If the re is an electronic malf unct io n, ser-

tional power steer ing system, prov iding a
constant steer ing support force t hat is no
longer proportionate to the vehicle speed.
This is most noticeab le when turning the
steer ing whee l at low speeds (for examp le
when parking), - more effo rt will be re-
qu ired than usual.
- Be aware of the different than usual
steering response and adjust your steer-
ing force acco rdingly.
- Have the problem checked and set right
by an autho rized Aud i dea ler as soon as
possible.
- If a steering malfunction occurs, th is is
signa led wit h the

(D Tips
- If the powe r stee ring system sho uld fail,
or if t he engine is not run ning (for exam-
ple, whi le being towed), you will still be
able to steer the vehicle. However, more
effo rt will be required to do so.
- If the power steering system is not func-
tioning properly, contact your authorized
Audi dea ler immediately.
