4.12 First setup of the Base Unit
After the physical installation is done, start with the first setup procedure to activate and configure
your device.
Preferred workflow
1. First time boot of the Base Unit.
The following screen can be seen on the Base Unit’s main output when it is not connected to any network.
Note that the bottom part of this image, which allows the configuration of a wireless client connection, can
only be found on Base Units with production firmware 2.8 or higher.

This screen can show up when either no network cable is connected to the Base Unit, when additional
configuration is required or when network requirements for the first time setup of the Base Unit have not
been met.
2. Connect the device to the network, either connect the LAN cable to the Base Unit or access the web
interface of the device by following the instructions under the full line on the screen and configure the
network settings for the Base Unit.
The system checks for updates.

If an update is available, the base unit will download, update and reboot
if no update is available, the unit will continue to the next step
3. Start registration to XMS cloud.
