6.9.3. Procedure to be followed when replacing a gas bottle
Caution
» Neverdropagascylinder.Duringtransport,thevalvesofthegasbottlesmustbeprotected
by caps.
» Useaspecialvehiclefortransportationofthesebottles.Alwaysfastenandlockgasbottles
in place.
» Closetheaftsaloonslidingdoortightwhenexchangingbottles,ensuregoodventilation.
Danger
» Be sure that all gas in the system has been burnt off before opening the valve at the cylin-
ders head.
» Alwayswaituntiltheamehasgoneoutcompletely,onlythenwillthelinebewithoutpres-
sure.
» If gas does leak whilst the valve at the cylinder is closed and the pressure reducer is not
tted,thenthevalveisprobablydamaged.
» Ifthisisthecase,replacetheregulatorimmediatelytostopleakage,thencallalocalgas
supplier.Neverdisconnectregulatorifamestayslit.
Theprocedureofchangingagasbottleinsinglesteps:
» Turn off the gas consumers and the engine.
» Turnthevalveorswitchlocatedonthebottle/cylinderitself.
» Disconnect(turn)thepressureregulatorfromthebottle.Doonlyuseappropriatetoolsinordernottodamagethe
ttings.
» Fit the protective cap promptly on the empty bottle.
» Removetheprotectivecapfromthettingofthenewgasbottle.
» Loosentheemptybottleandtakeitoutofthetray/box.
» Placethenewbottleinthetray/boxandfastenitsecurely.
» Check the connection thread for defects.
» Place the cap nut carefully and fasten hand-tight. Please observe that threads of gas installations often use dif-
ferentthreadtypes–directions!!
» Fasten the cap nut with an appropriate tool and check for leaks.
» Checkallcomponentsagain,onlythenopenthevalveattheregulator.
» Check the tightness of the system by reading the manometer. The manometer shall not display any pressure drop
with consumers closed.
