10.3 Troubleshooting
10.3.1 Eliminating simple faults
The fault displays depend on the modules used.
Faults caused by the control unit are automatically deleted once the fault
has been rectified.
Faults caused by the burner control unit of the heat source must be reset
at the control or the heat source, depending on the type of fault:
▶ Observe documents of the heat source!
Enter the following data for faults you cannot rectify yourself:
• Text or number of displayed fault
• Control unit type on the data plate ( Fig. 1, [8], page 5)
• Software version
Table 7 Troubleshooting
Fault, observation Effect on control characteristics Reason Remedy
Display is dark Control not working • The heating system emergency stop switch
is switched off.
▶ Switch on the heating system
emergency stop switch.
• The control unit is switched off. ▶ Switch on the control unit.
• The control unit safety equipment has been
triggered.
▶ Push in the pin.
• A safety device has been triggered. ▶ Check circuit breaker.
Unsupported
module
The module is not recognised. • The inserted module is faulty or the software
version is outdated.
▶ Call service.
Module not working Modules not working • The control unit safety device has been
triggered.
▶ Push in the pin.
▶ Call service.
xxx °C displays Operation of the control unit
continues.
• Sensor not installed, defective or outside the
measuring range
• Module faulty
▶ Call service.
Outside
temperature
sensor faulty
The control is computing with the
minimum outside temperature.
• The outside temperature sensor is incorrect,
not connected at all or is faulty.
• The central module ZM5313 or the control
unit is faulty.
• Communication with the control unit with
the address ≥ 1 has been interrupted.
▶ Call service.
The room is too cold. • The control is in setback mode. ▶ Check time and time program.
▶ If required, change time and time
program.
• The set room temperature is
too low.
▶ Adjust the set room temperature.
• The DHW heating is running for
too long.
▶ Check DHW heating.
• The heat sources are delivering insufficient
heating energy or are shut down.
▶ Check the heat source.
• Room temperature sensor has been
adjusted incorrectly.
▶ Call service.
Domestic hot water
remains cold
DHW is not being heated. The
current DHW temperature is below
40 °C.
• The set DHW temperature is set incorrectly. ▶ Adjust the set DHW temperature.
• The time program has been set incorrectly. ▶ Reprogram the time program.
• The DHW temperature is not rising. ▶ Check whether the DHW circuit is in
automatic mode.
▶ Call service.
Thermal disinfection
failed
Thermal disinfection has been
interrupted.
• The output of the heat source is insufficient,
e.g. because other heat consumers (e.g.
heating circuits) are requesting heat during
thermal disinfection.
• The temperature sensor is incorrectly
connected or faulty.
• The cylinder primary pump is incorrectly
connected or faulty.
• The FM-MW module or the control unit is
faulty.
• The draw-off rate during the thermal
disinfection period is too high.
▶ Select the time for thermal
disinfection so as to avoid overlapping
with additional heat requirements.
▶ Call service.
Maintenance
interval expired
No effect on the control response • The specified period before maintenance is
next due has expired.
▶ Call service.
▶ Have maintenance carried out.
The automatic maintenance message
remains active until it is reset by an
approved heating contractor.
