7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Basic operational test
! Basic operational test should only be done if there is a
serious breakdown or fault in the system component.
Basic operational test can validate proper function
of the RG8.0 / RG4.0 and point to external issues if
problems are experienced. With nothing connected
to the RG8.0 / RG4.0 and recovery / purge valve
(black) in the RECOVER position, open the inlet
control valve (blue) and outlet control valve (red)
valves. Start the RG8.0 / RG4.0 and close the in-
let valve. The RG8.0 / RG4.0 should shut-off due to
Low Pressure (LP) cut-out. Upon opening the inlet
valve, the RG8.0 / RG4.0 should restart. Upon clos-
ing the outlet valve, the RG8.0 / RG4.0 should begin
to pump up pressure on the High Side (red) gauge.
When the pressure reaches approximate 38.5bar, the
RG8.0 / RG4.0 should shut off due to High Pressure
(HP) safety switch. Slowly open the outlet valve and
the RG8.0 / RG4.0 should restart when pressure drops
below 28 bar. This process validates normal and correct
operation of all features.

Checklist
Cause/Action
RG8.0 / RG4.0
does not start
/ run when the
main switch is
in on position.
Is the RG8.0 / RG4.0
plugged into the cor-
rect voltage and fre-
quency source?
Verify power to
RG8.0 / RG4.0
Is there power at the
outlet / mains source?
Verify power to
RG8.0 / RG4.0
Is the circuit breaker /
mini breaker tripped?
Reset the
circuit breaker
Does the blue
gauge read "0" or
less pressure?
R LP cut-out trig-
gered. Raise
inlet pressure.
R Check the A/C or
refrigeration
system pressure.
R Open the
inlet valve.
Does the red gauge
show a value great-
er than 38.5bar?
HP cut-out triggered;
See chapter 8.3
If the RG8.0 / RG4.0
does not start af-
ter performing the
above steps, contact
Bosch for service.
The
RG8.0 / RG4.0
does not
pull down in-
to vacuum.
Check basic
operation
Close the
RG8.0 / RG4.0
inlet valve. If the
RG8.0 / RG4.0 pulls
into vacuum and
shuts-off, proceed to
next step. If not per-
form internal leak
test as described
in section no. 7.2
Check for leaks
in hoses and
connections
Open the
RG8.0 / RG4.0
inlet valve. Close on-
ly A/C or refrigeration
system service valves.
If RG8.0 / RG4.0 pulls
down to vacuum pro-
ceed to next step.
Check for leaks in
the A/Correfrig-
erantion system
Close the
RG8.0 / RG4.0
inlet valve. Open A/C
or refrigeration sys-
tem service valves.
Observe manifold
gauges for 15min.
If there is pressure
rise, A/Cor refrig-
eration system has
trapped refrigerant. If
not A/Correfrigera-
tion system has leaks.
The internal
leak test fails
