RUNNING CHECKS
• Single Ram System–Add Evinrude/Johnson
Biodegradable TNT Fluid, a s needed, to bring
level to the bottom of the fill plug threads.
Install the filler cap and tighten to a torque of 45 to
55 in. lbs. (5 to 6 N·m).
• Disengage tilt support.
• Cycle the unit at le ast five comple te cycle s to
purge all air from the system. When cycling the
unit, hold the trim swit ch ON an add itional 5 to
10 seconds after the unit reaches the end of it s
travel befo re activating the switch in the op po-
site direction.
RUNNING CHECKS
Engine Monitoring System
Attach emergency stop lanyard.
Turn key switch to ON. W arning horn should
sound for 1/2 second.
All SystemCheck warning lights should turn on at
the same time, then turn off one at a time.
Fuel System
Perform running checks of t he fuel system by fo l-
lowing these steps:
• Squeeze fuel primer bulb until hard or activa te
electric primer. Observe all fuel hoses and con-
nections. Repair any leaks.
• Start outb oard. Inspect a ll hoses a nd connec-
tions. Repair a ny l eaks o r mi srouted h oses
immediately.

A DANGER
DO NOT run the engine indoors or without
adequate ventilation or permit exhaust
fumes to accumulate in confined areas.
Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide
which, if inhaled, can cause serious brain
damage or death.
A WARNING
Contact with a rotating propeller is likely to
result in serious injury or death. Assure
the engine and prop area is clear of people
and objects before starting engine or oper-
ating boat. Do not allow anyone near a pro-
peller, even when the engine is off. Blades
can be sharp and the propeller can con-
tinue to turn even after the engine is off.
A CAUTION
DO NOT run outboard without a water sup-
ply to the outboard’s cooling system. Cool-
ing system and/or powerhead damage
could occur.
