3 Product description
3.1 Description of function
The instrument is a parallel evaporator which can carry out distillations of solvents in
various formats and containers across a range of temperatures from room tempera-
ture up to + 100 °C and within a range of pressures from 1 mbar up to ambient pres-
sure.
The basis of the process is the evaporation and condensing of solvents under vac-
uum.
u The product is heated in the rack.
u The even rotation of the rack induces a vortex on the surface of each liquid sam-
ple.
ð By this vortex, the evaporation surface is enlarged and, therefore, the evapo-
ration is accelerated.
ð This also constantly mixes the product which prevents localized overheating
and delayed evaporation.
u The vapor is converged and reheated in the cover.
u Then it passes on via the vacuum hose to the condenser.
u There, the latent heat of the vapor is transferred to the coolant fluid so that the va-
por condenses.
