Power Supply
Unit does not power up.
No green light on top of unit
after pressing On/Off switch.
AC power cord not plugged into an
AC power outlet.
Note: Green indicator on power
supply not illuminated.
Plug AC power cord into a known
working AC power outlet.
Bad AC power outlet.
Note: Green indicator on power
supply not illuminated.
Verify that the AC power outlet is
OK; try a different circuit.
Power supply cable not fully
plugged into back of unit.
Push power supply cable fully into
back of unit.
Communications/Connections
Unit does not connect to
host PC or a network
(Professional, Value, and
Expert –UPK units).
Incorrect cable type or defective
cable.
Ensure USB 2.0 cable in use and
less than 5 meters (~16 ft). Unit
shipped with USB 2.0 cable
2 meters (~6 ft) in length.
Excessive USB cable length.
USB 2.0 cable should not exceed 5
meters (~16 ft) in length.
Host PC has lost, or could not
establish, a USB connection with
the SmartSource unit.
Turn off the SmartSource unit and
leave the PC powered on. Wait 5
seconds and then turn the
SmartSource unit back on. Listen
for a “chime” on the host PC,
indicating that the host PC has
established a new USB connection
with the SmartSource.
Software driver missing, corrupt, or
not loaded.
Monitor software driver using Device
Manager. Uninstall and/or reinstall
driver as needed.
