7 Installation conditions
1. The unit must be installed by a licenced trades-
person to AS/NZS 3500.
2. A connection must be available for draining the
flushing water.
3. There must be a 240 V / 50 Hz mains power
point installed above the filter within 1.2 m to
provide the unit with electrical power.
4. The power supply unit and filter are only suita-
ble for dry location installation.
5. The filter installation must be proteced against
freezing conditions, solvent vapours, fuel oil,
chemicals of all kinds, UV radiation, and heat
sources above 40 °C. A cover is recommended
where the filter is exposed to direct sun-light.
6. If the unit has been dropped or damaged,
plastic parts must be replaced, even if there is
no visible damage.
6 Function
Untreated water flows through the filter where
impurities > 90 µm are trapped by the filter screen
and removed. The filter screen can be cleaned by
backwashing as required.
The backwash filter has patented suction-ring
backwashing system that removes debris from
the filter screen.
The unit timer is set by the installer and is used to
set the interval between the backwashing cycle,
of between one hour to 56 days, depending on
incoming water quality.
The backwashing process does not interrupt the
supply of water to plumbing fixtures.
