4-5 Driving Auxiliary Functions 151
System pause / on control
The acoustic vehicle alerting system (AVAS) can be turned on / off through the
"Drop-down" on the home page of the multimedia system - "Engine sound
simulator" switch. The system is on by default before delivery of the vehicle. The
AVAS has two sound sources, namely, Standard" and "Cozy", which can be set
through "Multimedia" → "New energy" → "Sound source of engine sound
simulator".
AVAS can be turned off only when it is impossible for pedestrians to
approach the vehicle (e.g. on a road with traffic jam or on an expressway).
The AVAS should be turned on as long as pedestrians are likely to appear
around the vehicle.
If the vehicle runs at a low speed with the AVAS turned off, it is unable to alert
pedestrians to the vehicle's approaching, which may impair the vehicle
safety.
If the alerting sound of the AVAS cannot be heard during driving at a low
speed, stop the vehicle at a relatively safe and silent place, open the
windows, and drive the vehicle with the gearshift lever in D position to check
whether alerting sound from the front end of the vehicle can be heard. If no
alerting sound is heard after doing so, contact a BYD authorized service
provider for treatment.
