What to do if I forgot my Canon VB-M40 Security Camera password?
    • J
      Joseph TaylorAug 26, 2025
If you've forgotten your password, you can reset all the camera settings except the date and time using the reset switch. The default administrator password needed for initialization is 'camera'. Remember that network settings like the IP address and subnet mask will be reset and need to be configured again.

What to do if Canon Software Viewer slows down?
    • K
      Kyle DownsAug 27, 2025
The Canon Software Viewer's performance depends on your CPU and graphics card. If the Viewer slows down, reduce the number of cameras or decrease the live frame rate. High video quality or resolution settings can also cause slowdowns; try adjusting these settings on the camera.

Why is Canon Software Storage Server disk space usage so high?
    • J
      James MartinAug 27, 2025
To address the issue of the Canon Software Storage Server disk space usage being higher than expected, especially if free disk space is low, consider the following: if the video quality setting of the camera is high, the amount of data per frame is large. If you are using anti-virus software, the software records communication between the Storage Servers and the cameras and the size of that log may reach several gigabytes. Change the anti-virus software settings to exclude the Storage Servers from the target list.

Why can't I connect to Canon Software Storage Server from Viewer?
    • S
      scareyAug 28, 2025
To resolve the issue of being unable to connect to the Canon Software Storage Server from the Viewer, verify that the login user name and password are correct. Also, check the network connection between the server and the Viewer, ensure the IP address of the destination server is correct, confirm the server replies to a ping from the Viewer computer, and check if TCP port 80 is being used by another application.
  • C
    Catherine JohnsonAug 29, 2025
Why can't I view live images on Canon Software?
    • R
      Rodney SalazarAug 29, 2025
If you cannot view live images in Canon Software, and “Could not connect to camera” is displayed, check the camera’s power supply and network connection. If a message in the Viewer's timeline indicates a connection error, check the camera’s power and network connection. If the screen goes blank when switching layouts but reappears after a few seconds, reduce the number of cameras or decrease the frame rate.

    Tamara SimsAug 29, 2025
How to resolve Canon Software recording frame rate reduction?
    • E
      Elizabeth RobinsonAug 30, 2025
If the Canon Software recording frame rate is reduced due to high load issues, modify the recording schedule. Check the current CPU usage and terminate any applications that are a heavy load on the CPU.
  • J
    John OlsenAug 23, 2025
Why are none of my Canon Software cameras recording?
    • H
      Hannah KrauseAug 25, 2025
If none of the Canon Software cameras are recording, verify the network cable for the server is properly connected and check for any power failures. If the link lamps on the hub (switching hub) and on the network connector on the server do not light, there may be a defect in the server’s cable, hub (switch), or network connector.
