7.4 Battery management
7.4.1 Battery consumption
Battery consumption depends on various factors including the following:
Quality and capacity The higher the battery quality and capacity, the longer the batteries will
last.
Ambient temperature Battery consumption increases at low ambient temperatures.
Beeper Battery consumption increases when the beeper is on.
Additional double beep func-
tion when decoupling
The beeper is used twice as often, which increases battery consumption.
Actuation The more frequently the device is actuated, the higher the battery con-
sumption.
Wake-up interval The shorter the wake-up interval, the higher the battery consumption,
because the radio function is switched on more frequently.
Wake on Radio This standby function (constant searching for radio signals) increases bat-
tery consumption dramatically.
Radio reception faulty/wire-
less coverage poorly set up
Frequent interruptions of the wireless link result in frequent connection
attempts, which increase battery consumption.
Examples of battery life
ILS-I usage profile Battery life*
Standby without access operations up to 5 years
Standby and up to 10 access operations per day up to 4 years
Max. number of opening/closing operations per battery pack up to 70,000
* The information applies to an ambient temperature of 20°C. Deviating temperatures, usage frequency and parameter settings of the
locking devices can result in strongly divergent values.
