3 About the OMEGA FLEX system
3.1 What is OMEGA FLEX?
OMEGA FLEX is a group of products consisting of various electronic locking devices and locking media that
can be freely combined. A combination based on mechanical locking cylinders can also be realised without
any problems.
Your chosen combination of OMEGA FLEX components forms your individual OMEGA FLEX system, which
can be modified or extended at any time.
3.2 How does OMEGA FLEX work?
OMEGA FLEX is based on wireless communication between locking media and battery driven, electronic
locking devices. Each locking medium contains a medium that can wirelessly transmit and receive
information to and from a locking device.
If you equip doors with an electronic locking device from the OMEGA FLEX system, those doors can be
opened with an authorised locking medium (e.g. a key fob or ID card that contains a locking medium).
If an authorised locking medium is held in the reading field of a locking device, it engages and the door can
be opened. After a specific time (the ‘opening duration’ that has been set), the locking device disengages
again automatically. This prevents the latchbolt or deadbolt being retracted when the locking device is
actuated and the door can no longer be opened.
