PERFORMING A PERCENTAGE BREAK TEST
Once the Percentage Break Setup is complete,
from the Home display, depress the F1 (Mode) key
until the DFS II displays “Norm”.
Pull to Break
Apulltobreaktestwillusethemode“%TBk”.Afx
yoursampletothegriporxtureandzerothegauge.
Press the Zero key to zero the load effects caused
bythesampleweightandxture(tareout).
Pull the sample (manually or using a Chatillon®
tester). The load applied to the load sensor is
displayed during the test.
When the sample breaks (physically breaks) or
when the load caused by the sample being pulled
dropsbyyourspecied%Dropfromamaximum
value, the test will end.
You may view the Peak Load by pressing the F1
(Mode) key until the mode indicator displays “T-PK”.
The value displayed is the Peak Tensile value for
the test. This value is taken from the DFS II Series
gauge’s Peak Register.
You may view the %Break Load by depressing the
F1 (Mode) key until the mode indicator displays
“%TBk”. The DFS II Series gauge will display the
following results and test parameters:
n %Drop(user-dened)
n Break (Break Load)) expressed as “%TBk”
n Max (Maximum Load
Compress to Rupture (Break)
A compress to rupture test will use the mode
“%CBk”.Afxyoursampletothegriporxture
and zero the gauge. Press the Zero key to zero
the load effects caused by the sample weight and
xture(tareout).
Compress (Push) the sample (manually or using a
Chatillon® tester). The load applied to the load
sensor is displayed during the test.
When the sample breaks (physically breaks) or
when the load caused by the sample being pulled
drops by 95% from a maximum value, the test will
end.
You may view the Peak Load by pressing the F1
(Mode) key until the mode indicator displays “C-PK”.
The value displayed is the Peak Compression value
for the test. This value is taken from the DFS II Se-
ries gauge’s Peak Register.
You may view the Break Load by depressing the
F1 (Mode) key until the mode indicator displays
“%CBk”. The DFS II Series gauge will display the
following results and test parameters:
n %Drop(user-dened)
n Break (Break Load) expressed as “%CBk”
n Max (Maximum Load)
