1 Set ignition switch in “ON”. Check with scanner
to see if there is failure information record.
No Go to next step
Yes Go to next step 2 Turn on air conditioning switch, connect
commutator between ECU and wire harness,
and then measure to see if there is signal input
on air conditioning switch and pressure signal of
ECU.
No Examine and repair

Yes Go to next step 3 Check if pressure of air conditioning system,
electromagnetic clutch of compressor and air
conditioning pump are in good order.
No Repair or replace
Yes Go to next step 4 Set ignition switch in “ON”. Check if the
voltages of ECU’s 57#, 58#, 64#, and 65# pins
(output to idle speed stepper motor) are normal.
No Check control circuit
Yes Repair/replace

5 Disassemble stepper motor to see if it is stuck in
operation.
No Go to next step
Yes Replace ECU 6 Start engine, turn on air conditioner, and check
with scanner with reference to step number of
stepper motor to see if idle speed actuator is in
working order.
