Chrysler 1956 Windsor - Four Door Hard Top; Front Door Glass Removal and Installation

Remove sheet metal clip from key locking rod
at the lock. Remove hairpin clip from outside
door handle connecting link at the lock. Remove
the lock mounting screws and the lock. To re-
move striker and latch assembly, remove clothes
protector guard, and striker reta i ning screws,
remove striker.
Installation
Assemble lock to door and secure with attach-
ing screws. Install hairpin clip on outside door
handle connecting link at the lock assembly;
install sheet metal clip on key locking rod, aft er
ma
king certain that the rocker at bottom of
lock is in the unlocked position. Install remote
control link to door lock, and secure with hair-
pin clip. Adjust linkage by loosening the lock
bracket mounting screws; moving bracket up or
d own as required. With the Safe-Lock Door
latches, Inter-locking pieces of heavy gauge
s te e l, at door and striker plate, prevent fore and
a ft separation of latch from door post, keeping
latch and striker plate safely engaged.

ing glass assembly involving new removal, in_
stallation, and adjusting procedu r es as follows:

Disconnect cable at battery . Raise the door
glass. Remove door hardware and trim panel.
Loosen window lift motor mounting bracket
screws, remove retainer washers from wi ndow
regulator arms and disengage anns. Remove
the two glass uppe r stops. Tilt glass so it will
slip over edge of vent wing frame and remove
the glass Figure 10.

Install door glass, engage window regulator
arms in slots of door glass frame and secure
with retaine r washers . I nstall the glass upper
stops and tighten screws securely. Close the
door and align t he glass for proper clearance
on each side by moving the window lift motor
