Gas props support the liftgate in the open position. However, because the gas pressure drops
with temperature, it may be necessary to assist the props when opening the liftgate in cold
weather.
NOTE:
Allow the power system to open the liftgate. Manually pushing or pulling the liftgate may activate
the liftgate obstacle detection feature and stop the power operation or reverse its direction.
WARNING!
During power operation, personal injury or cargo damage may occur. Ensure the liftgate travel
path is clear. Make sure the liftgate is closed and latched before driving away.
KEYLESS ENTER-N-GO — IGNITION
NOTE:
In case the ignition switch does not change with the push of a button, the key fob may have a low
or dead battery. In this situation, a back up method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put
the nose side of the key fob (side opposite of the Emergency Key) against the ENGINE
START/STOP button and push to operate the ignition switch.
Starting
Perform the following starting procedure with a key fob inside the vehicle:
1. Place the gear selector in PARK or NEUTRAL.
2. While depressing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button once. If the
engine fails to start, the starter will disengage automatically after 10 seconds.
3. To stop the cranking of the engine prior to the engine starting, push the button again.
Stopping
1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
2. Shift the transmission to PARK (P).
3. Push the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The ignition will return to the OFF mode.
NOTE:
If the transmission is not in PARK and the vehicle is in motion, the ENGINE START/STOP
button must be held for two seconds with the vehicle speed above 5 mph (8 km/h) before the
engine will shut off.
