4 Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws on the left side of the
chassis.
5 Position the ground lug over this space and use the two screws to secure the
ground lug to the left side of the chassis. Figure 2-1 on page 2-6 shows the
grounding lug attached to the chassis with the supplied screws.
6 Connect the other end of the grounding wire to supplemental ground in
accordance with local and national regulations and safety guidelines, and the
grounding procedures used by your company.
7 Do one of the following:
• If the chassis is already mounted, skip to step 8.
• If the chassis has not yet been mounted, position the chassis in the
desired installation location, and mount it using the installed brackets and
customer supplied mounting hardware. See “Installing the Mounting
Brackets for a 19-inch Frame Installation” on page 2-18 for detailed
instructions.
Note: The 3916 comes with the brackets required for mounting in a 19-inch
frame. A 23-inch frame mounting option is available but requires separately
orderable brackets. The mounting instructions for both bracket sizes are the
same.
8 Using a digital volt ohm meter, verify that the DC resistance between the
chassis and the supplemental ground source is less than 100 milliohms.
You have mounted and grounded the 3916. You are now ready to
proceed with installing the Cable Support Brackets. See “Installing the
Cable Support Brackets” on page 2-29.
