Call Control
The Cisco Wireless IP Phone 8821 and 8821-EX utilize Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for call control with the following
applications.
Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
Minimum = 9.1(2)
Recommended = 10.5(2), 11.0(1), 11.5(1)
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CUCME)
Minimum = 10.5
Recommended = 11.0, 11.5, and later
Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST)
Minimum = 10.5
Recommended = 11.0, 11.5, and later
Note: Cisco Unified Communications Manager requires a device package to be installed or service release update in order to
enable Cisco Wireless IP Phone 8821 and 8821-EX device support.

Prior to release 11.0 of Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, the Cisco Wireless IP Phone 8821 and 8821-EX are
to utilize the fast track method utilizing the Cisco Unified IP Phone 9971 as the reference model (use 7975 as reference model if
needing softkey template support). With release 11.0 and later of Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, the Cisco
IP Phone 8821 and 8821-EX can utilize the Cisco IP Phone 8861 as the reference model.

Note: Cisco Wireless LAN Controller release 8.0.121.0 or later is required if utilizing Flexconnect + Local Switching mode.
