Configuring Spanning Tree Protocol
To configure Spanning Tree Protocol, start from the Main Menu and do the following:
Select option [N], Network Management.1.
From the Network Management menu, select option [B]:
Catalyst 1900 − Network Management
[I] IP Configuration
[S] SNMP Management
[B] Bridge − Spanning Tree
[C] Cisco Discovery Protocol
[G] Cisco Group Management Protocol
[H] HTTP Server Configuration
[R] Cluster Management
[X] Exit to Main Menu
Enter Selection: B

From this menu select option [U] for Uplink Fast. This allows for quick recovery should a root port
fail:

Select [E] to enable Uplink Fast:
Uplink fast may be [E]nabled or [D]isabled:
Current setting ===> Disabled
New setting ===> Enabled

When you return to the Bridge Configuration menu, you can enable the Spanning Tree Protocol by
selecting [E].

Select the VLAN you want to enable STP on. Notice we selected VLAN 2:
This command enables the Spanning Tree Protocol for a list of VLANs.
You may enable the Spanning Tree Protocol for a list of VLAN numbers.
VLAN numbers range from 1 to 1005.
VLAN numbers should be separated by commas or spaces. A VLAN number range may also be specified. Example: 1, 2, 10−20
Enter VLAN numbers: 2

To disable STP on a particular VLAN, you need to select option [D] from the same menu:7.
