8.13 Maintenance of tracks
Stop the MEWP on a solid and plane ground. Lift the
counter frame and check the tensioning of crawlers.
Remove gravel or mud stuck between the gear
wheel and the links of the track, before
proceeding with the tensioning.
The grease contained in the hydraulic crawler is
under pressure. If the tensioning valve is
loosened too much, it risks being expelled under
the effect of the pressure of the grease, seriously
endangering the safety of the operator.
To tension the track, connect a pneumatic gun to the
grease pump and add grease.
To loosen the track, slowly unscrew the tensioning valve
counterclockwise for no more than one turn. If the grease
does not start to drain, slowly rotate the track.
