Button and Activation Specifications
Thebuttonrequiresaforceof3-5N(Newton-siunits).Anotherwaytoexplainthis:
6–18ozofpressureovertimeapplied,whichisbetween125–300ms(0.15–0.3seconds).
Slappingorslidingyourngersacrossthebuttonwillnotactivateit.Itrequirespressureovertime.Theouter
edgeofthebuttonwillnotbethatsensitive.Normaluseofthebuttonwouldbesomeonerushingtoactivateit
andusingtheirhand,nger,arm,knee,forehead,etc.
Nootherpiezoelectricbuttononthemarketwillfunctionaswell.
TheonlydifferencesbetweentheanalogandIPbuttonsaretheoutputonthewiresandthestateofthebutton,
N.OorN.C.Thebuttoncanandpiezoelementsareidentical.Theanalogbutton(2wire)isN.O.(Normally
Open),andclosesmomentarilywhenpressed.Thedigitalbutton(3wire)isN.C.(NormallyClosed)andwhen
pressedthestategoestoopenmomentarily,whichistranslatedtoaPthenRdataoutputtotheIP1500/
IP2500/IP5000 boards.
