If yourtractorhasnot beenputintouseforanextendedperiodof time,
chargethebatteryasfollows:
1. Setyour batterychargerto delivera maxof 10amperes.
If yourbatterychargerisautomatic,chargethebatteryuntilthe
chargerindicatesthatchargingis complete.Ifthechargerisnot
automatic,chargefor nofewerthaneight hours.
FUSE
One20AMPfuseis installedin yourtractor'swiringharnesstoprotect
thetractor'selectricalsystemfromdamagecausedbyexcessive
amperage.
If theelectricalsystemdoesnot function,or yourtractor'senginewill
notcrank,first checkto be certainthatthe fusehasnotblown.It can
befoundatthe rearof theunit,underneaththefenderlocatedby the
battery.
Alwaysusea fusewiththe sameamperagecapacityforreplacement.
CUTTING BLADES
Shutthe engineoff andremoveignitionkeybeforeremovingthe
cuttingblade(s)forsharpeningor replacement.Protectyourhands
byusingheavygloveswhengraspingthe blade.
Periodicallyinspectthebladeand/or spindlefor cracksordamage,
especiallyafter you'vestrucka foreignobject.Donotoperatethe
machineuntil damagedcomponentsare replaced.
Toproperlysharpenthe cuttingblades,removeequalamounts
of metalfrombothendsof thebladesalongthecuttingedges,
paralleltothe trailingedge,at a250.to 300angle.Alwaysgrind
eachcutting bladeedgeequallyto maintainproperbladebalance.

Ifthecuttingedgeof thebladehas previouslybeensharpened,or if
anymetalseparationis present,replacethe bladeswith newones.
Toremovethe blades,proceedasfollows.
1. Removethedeckfrombeneaththe tractor,(refertoCuttingDeck
Removalearlierinthis section)thengentlyflip thedeckoverto
exposeitsunderside.
2. Placea blockof woodbetweenthe centerdeckhousingbaffle
andthe cuttingbladetoactas a stabilizer.SeeFig.21.
3. Removethehex flangenutthat securesthebladeto thespindle
assembly.SeeFig.21.
A poorlybalancedbladewill causeexcessivevibration,maycause
damagetothe tractorand/or resultin personalinjury.
5. Testthe blade'sbalanceusinga bladebalancer.Grindmetal
from theheavyside untilit balancesevenly.
NOTE:Whenreplacingtheblade,be sureto installthebladewiththe
sideof theblademarked"Bottom"(orwitha part numberstampedin
it)facingthe groundwhenthe mowerisinthe operatingposition.

Usea torquewrenchto tightenthebladespindlehexflangenut to
between70Ibs-ftand 90Ibs-ft.
CHANGING THE DECK BELT
Besuretoshutthe engineoff,removeignitionkey,disconnectthe
Isparkplugwire(s)andgroundagainstthe enginetopreventunin-
ltendedstartingbeforeremovingthe belt.
All beltsonyourtractoraresubjecttowearandshouldbereplacedif
anysignsof wearare present.
