SLOPE OPERATION
Slopesarea majorfactorrelatedto lossof controlandtip-over
accidentswhichcanresultinsevereinjuryor death.Allslopesrequire
extracaution.Ifyoucannotbackupthe slopeor if youfeeluneasyon
it, do notmowit.
Foryoursafety,usethe SlopeGuideincludedas partof this manual
to measureslopesbeforeoperatingthis machineona slopedor hilly
area.Ifthe slopeis greaterthan15degreesas shownonthe Slope
Guide,do notoperatethis machineonthatareaor seriousinjurycould
result.

Mowupanddown slopes,not across.Exerciseextremecaution
whenchangingdirectionon slopes.
• Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orother hiddenobjects.
Uneventerraincouldoverturnthe machine.Tallgrasscan hide

Useslowspeed.Choosea lowenoughspeedsettingso that
youwill nothavetostopor shiftwhileon theslope.Tiresmay
losetractionon slopeseventhoughthe brakesarefunctioning

Keepallmovementonthe slopesslowandgradual.Do not make
suddenchangesinspeedor direction.Rapidengagementor

ground.
• Donotusea grasscatcheron steepslopes.
• Donotmowon wetgrass.Reducedtractioncouldcausesliding.
• Donotattemptto coastdownhill.Over-speedingmaycausethe
operatortolose controlofthe machineresultingin seriousinjury
or death.
• Donottowheavypull behindattachments(e.g.loadeddumpcart,
lawnroller,etc.)on slopesgreaterthan5 degrees.Whengoing
downhill,theextraweighttendstopushthetractorandmay
causeyouto loosecontrol(e.g.tractormayspeedup, brakingand
steeringabilityarereduced,attachmentmayjack-knifeandcause
tractorto overturn).
