Abrasive Step Wear
Pattern on roller ends caused by fine abrasives.
Clean al l par ts and ho usings, ch eck al l par ts
and housings, c heck seals an d bear ings an d
replace if leaking, rough or noisy.
Etching
Bearing surfaces appear gray or grayish black in
color with r elated etching away o f m aterial
usually at roller spacing.
Replace be arings - c heck seals and c heck f or
proper lubrication.
Misalignment
Outer race misalignment due to foreign object.
Clean r elated p arts a nd replace bea ring. Make
sure races are properly seated.
Indentations
Surface depressions on race and rollers caused
by hard particles of foreign materials.
Clean a ll parts a nd ho usings, c heck se als an d
replace bearings if rough or noisy.
