DECTRON
Dectron, Inc. March 2012
Owners Manual
DSH/DSV/RSH/DBH/RBH Series Dehumidifier
Maximum Refrigerant-Tube Length Building Construction
Data subject to change without notice.
29
For DRY-O-TRON® units with remote air-cooled condensers, the size of tubes and
the maximum length of tubes are specified on the unit nameplate.
NOTE: The issue is internal volume and refrigerant-charge displacement. Increasing tube size
to reduce pressure drop will not help.
NOTE: The maximum length of refrigerant tubes is established at time of sale.
The building must be able to accommodate this requirement. Where tube-length limits cannot
be met, Dectron can supply a DryCooler, which does not have this requirement.
Contact Dectron before locating a remote condenser below the DRY-O-TRON® unit.
Horizontal runs of hot-gas tubes must slope downward in the direction of flow at a minimum
1/4” per 10 ft. (0.2cm/m).
All tubes, pipes, conduits, etc., must be separately supported by others. Do not allow the
weight of external piping or tubing to be supported by the DRY-O-TRON® connections or the
remote-condenser connections. Required supports are not shown, but must be so arranged as
to prevent torques or axial or radial forces from being applied to the unit tube stubs or the
condenser tube stubs. Failure to support pipes and tubes properly may lead to leaks and
breakage. Other code requirements may also apply.
For remote condensers at the same level as the
DRY-O-TRON
®
, contact Dectron before exceed-
ing the tube size or maximum tube length, both
of which are specified on the unit nameplate.
Unless the unit submittal data specifies
a remote-condenser location below the
DRY-O-TRON
®, contact Dectron before
installing the remote condenser below
the DRY-O-TRON
®.
For remote condensers located above the
DRY-O-TRON
®
, contact Dectron before
exceeding the tube size or maximum tube
length, both of which are specified on the unit
nameplate.
P-traps must be installed in the hot-gas riser
tubes to break up the lift into segments of less
than 20 feet.
The total rise of the hot-gas tube should be no
more than 50 feet.
