GenComm Pages 32 to 95 - Alarm Strings
1. Each string consists of 32 Unicode characters with the first character at the lowest register
address, NULL terminators are not used.
2. There are 2 strings corresponding to each alarm, refer to the alarm conditions page for details
of their use.
3. The contents of these strings will never change while the slave device is operating so a copy
can be held by the master to minimise traffic. The contents of digital input 1-9 strings are
defined in the module’s main configuration. These can only be changed using the P810 for
Windows configuration software.
4. Reading the string for an unimplemented alarm will return 32 spaces (Unicode 0x0020).
5. The inactive string for an alarm may not be used, in which case it will return 32 spaces
(Unicode 0x0020).
6. You would not normally read these strings without first establishing that the string
you wish to read is required. Ie the Example in the section entitled ‘GenComm Page 8
- Alarm Conditions’ details reading the alarm status from the module, and identifying which
alarm strings to read from the above string table.
