■ Safety shutter
All MARKEM-IMAJE systems are fitted with a safety shutter operated by an
electromagnet. This allows the user to block or deflect the laser beam with a reflective
mechanical plate. There are two position sensors for the shutter open and closed position
which are used to monitor safety.
■ Emergency stop switch
The MARKEM-IMAJE system includes an emergency stop switch on the control panel.
This red push-button has spring-operated contacts and complies with electrical standards.
■ ON/OFF (0/I) switch
This switch is located at the back of the system. When the switch is in the OFF position,
power is shut off from the main parts of the system. Always switch the equipment off when
it is not in use.
■ Key-operated start/stop switches
The MARKEM-IMAJE system is fitted with two key-operated start/stop switches. The first
is used to supply power to the laser source and the second is for opening or closing the
laser beam shutter.
■ Manual restart
It must not be possible for the user to reset the system to restart the laser beam
automatically if the mains power supply fails or if an interlock device is activated. This
requirement means that there has to be a safety interlock on the cover of a protective
enclosure. The installed laser belongs to Class IV when the covers are opened.
■ Warning label
Warning labels must be affixed to certain parts of the system. These labels indicate the
conditions which could expose the user to laser radiation.
Apart from the laser symbol itself which does not include any wording, all labels are to be
written in the language indicated by the user.
