Marking field limitation
Marking Field (mf)
It is the available marking area of a scribing laser. The field is completely available in case of
static (or stationary) marking. When marking ‘on the fly’, a more or less part of the marking field,
in the product movement direction, is reserved for product tracking.
The marking field depends on the choice of the terminal lens, mounted on the marking head.
When marking ‘on the flyand the tracking distance is too long, (message content or line speed
too high), the risk is that one of the mirrors reaches it maximum limit and thus the message won’t
be correctly completed.
Checking the marking field:
- Go to Auto Test mode and draw the test message (=the marking area of the static laser),
- Go into message parameters and set the line settings four your ‘on the fly’ application’,
- Without moving your substrate, press start print
Two (2) main parameters have to be considered for speed capabilities:
- The maximum line speed
- The minimum pitch (frequency of the marking occurrences)
Marking out of the field
(burnt vertical mark)
